The Idea
"Hair treatment" isn't what readily comes to mind for clients when they need a haircut or color. Abl Hair Studios wanted to change that by designing an experience centered around the idea of "treating the hair" and educating clients about healthy hair practices, all while maintaining the familiarity of a normal luxury hair service.
The Challenge
At its root, the challenge of creating a hair salon that focuses on health over style is educating its clientele to do the same. The practice of “hair health” through design and strategic decisions was the focus.

abl studios is a Brooklyn-based hair salon that focuses on transforming salon services that damage hair into sustainable holistic practices for hair rejuvenation. Founded by veteran hair stylist Brianna Davis with the idea of “hair healing,” abl studios has evolved as part salon part spa by fully customizing its services and experiences to the clients’ needs externally and internally. The salon prides itself on creating a safe haven for most hair textures, only using clean, ammonia free organic coloring systems, and resolving hair trauma from negligent styling practices from other salons. WLHNT Group has been a strategic partner that has worked with abl studios since its inception in 2016.
